2006 Inductees

StimmelsCharlie and Linda Stimmel

Charlie and Linda Stimmel have been supporters of the Clear Creek Amana School District for many years. They live in rural Tiffin and own and operate Charlie’s Welding, Inc., which was started in 1974. Charlie is a 1971 graduate of Clear Creek. He was the first quarterback for Clear Creek as a junior. Linda is a 1970 graduate from Mid Prairie. They have 3 children – Shawn, who was a 1994 graduate of CCA and a graduate from Coe College, where he played basketball and ran track. He finished his masters at Bemidji State University. He is currently the head women’s basketball and golf coach at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota. He is married to Jessica (Evans), also a 1995 CCA graduate and a graduate from Iowa with an Early Childhood and Pre-Kindergarten Special Education degree. She is employed at Lewistown Schools in Minnesota. Shawn and Jessica have a son Caden and are expecting another child in January. Chris, who was a 1997 graduate of CCA and a graduate from the University of Northern Iowa where he played football and has a degree in Spanish and Geography. He works in Chicago, Illinois as a Geographic Information Specialist. Teri, a 1999 graduate from CCA and a graduate from Coe College where she ran track and played rugby. She graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. She will finish her Masters of Education from Graceland University in December. She is currently teaching high school math at Clear Creek Amana and is the assistant varsity volleyball coach.

The list of Charlie and Linda’s community service is endless. Both Charlie and Linda coached Little League Baseball (9 years) and Softball (5 years); they organized and helped build the 2nd Little League diamond and concession stand restrooms in Oxford; they have been a sponsor for Little League the past 24 years; they are past members of the Booster Club (12 years); they coached 14 and under girls softball (2 years); they helped organize and help build the restrooms and equipment shed at Burns Stadium; they helped organize the new asphalt track at Burns Stadium; they ran the CCA Booster Club Youth basketball tournaments for boys (9 years) and girls (4 years); they are very supportive with donating to various school activities – such as Fill the Gym Nights and Post Prom to name a couple. They are both active members of St. Peter’s Church in Cosgrove, where they have also donated many hours of their time doing various projects for the Church.

Charlie also has been involved as President of the CCA Little League (5 years); coached Babe Ruth baseball (3 years); President of the Booster Club (5 years); helped build the concession stand at Burns Stadium; coached youth boys (8 years) and girls (4 years) basketball teams; helped to repaint the high school gym in 1994; helped to build the counter tops in the restroom of the new high school weight room; worked on the new aluminum bleachers at Burns Stadium, and he is a Knights of Columbus member.

Linda has been a five year CCA Foundation member and is also an Altar & Rosary Society Member. Linda drove the Special Education bus for three years, volunteered at the Oxford Elementary school for several years, and of course has been behind the scenes on all the activities that Charlie has helped on.

Charlie and Linda are still giving many hours to the community. Their dedication and giving of their time, materials, and equipment has provided many opportunities for the students at Clear Creek Amana.
