Congratulations to the CCA Middle School Future City teams for all of their commitment, hard work, and a great day at the competition, Saturday, Jan. 21st. The four CCA teams presented their model designs and city plans for using renewable energies at Prairie Point Middle School in CR. The event hosted 31 teams from all over Iowa. CCA is proud of all the work each team did to accomplish this task since they started last October. They built a table top model using recycled materials, designed a virtual city using SimCity4 software, wrote a city narrative and a research essay about futuristic energies, then performed a final 5-7 minute oral presentation to panels of engineer judges from local businesses and universities at the Future City event. The models can be viewed in the Springmier Library, and we want to thank Mrs. Cooper, for providing an area for their display.
This is the eleventh year that Mrs. Kellenberger has coached the Future Cities competition at CCA, which is open to students in grades 7 and 8 through the after school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program. Other sessions include First Lego League, and robotics for grades 6-8. Students can sign up for the spring sessions, beginning this week, by filling out a STEM form which will be available in the hallway wall pocket by the office.

Visitor/Volunteer Policy
We ask our visitors to check in at the main office. When a visitor checks in at the office the office staff will make a determination if the visitor is a volunteer or visitor. A volunteer will be issued one type of name tag and a visitor will be issued another type of name tag.
Our substitute teachers also are required to wear a certain type of name tag. This policy includes those individuals that are attending a field trip with our students. If a person is going to attend a field trip they need to first check in at our office. All of these measures are to help keep our school as safe as possible. Thanks for your cooperation.
