High School Building Use
If a group is affiliated with the district, building requests need to go through Erin White, 545-2361. If it is out of district, requests need to be made through Maury Gallagher, 545-2361.
Senior Awards Ceremony
Clear Creek Amana High School will host the annual Senior Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 21st at 7:30 p.m. in the high school Performing Arts Center. At this time seniors will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, and scholarship winners will be announced. Typically, our students receive well over $600,000 in scholarships at this event. We hope to see our CCAHS friends and families on Monday the 21st.

Sunday, May 27th, will be here before we know it. Hopefully, you will find the following information helpful in preparing for this very special day.
Senior Breakfast time and date: Friday, May 25, 2012 at 8:45 A.M. in the high school Commons.
Rehearsal: Immediately following the Senior Breakfast.
Breakfast and rehearsal are mandatory for participation in the graduation ceremony on Sunday. It is expected that all fees (registration fees, Kirkwood fees, lunch accounts – unless there is a sibling, textbook fines and fees, library fines and fees, athletic uniforms and equipment fees) are paid in full before rehearsal that day.
Graduation
- Time and Date: 2:00 P.M., Doors open at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, May 27, 2012.
- Location: Clear Creek Amana High School
- Appropriate attire:
- Men – Collared shirt, dress shoes, slacks
- W omen – Dress, skirt, slacks, appropriate blouse.
- Attire NOT allowed: Shorts, tennis shoes, bedroom slippers, bathing suits, pajamas, “flip-flop” sandals.
- Caps/Gowns: Worn correctly. Caps may not be thrown at any time due to safety concerns.
- Photographs: Parents may approach the stage for one or two pictures and then return immediately to their seat. We have contracted with a photographer to take a picture of your student during the ceremony. There will be an additional cost for those wishing to take advantage of this service.
- Handicap seating: May be arranged by calling Jill Dietrich prior to May 23rd at 545-2361.
Seniors are responsible for bringing their own caps, gowns and appropriate attire.
Jolesch Photography will be photographing the seniors. They will be either mailing or emailing proofs of the seniors approximately one week after graduation. You will have an opportunity to purchase pictures of your graduate. There will be brochures available at the ceremony. You may also check out their website at www.jolesch.com. ProVideo will be videoing the graduation ceremony. DVDs will be available for purchase. You may check them out at www.provideoweb.com.
Students will form a reception line after the ceremony in the commons. There will be two tables in the commons for graduates to pick up their diplomas. It is recommended that ladies wear or bring shoes to rehearsal that they plan to wear to graduation to practice walking in them.
Please advise the Guidance Office of any scholarships or awards your son or daughter has received. We want to make sure every recipient is acknowledged at the Senior Awards Night. This will be a very special day for all our young men and women. It is our hope that everyone involved approaches this special day with the respect that it deserves.
Congratulations CCA High School Student Assistance Team
On Friday, April 13th CCA High School Student Assistance Team/Interact was awarded the 2012 Rotary District 6000 Changemaker Award. CCA was the only Interact club so recognized. Congratulations for this prestigious Award.
On Wednesday, April 18th the Clear Creek Amana High School Student Assistance Team was recognized by the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce with an Excellence in Education Award. The CCA SAT was given the Student Team/Group Excellence Award for its community service projects this year.
The award was excepted by Terryl Bandy, President of the student group, and Mark Hovey, SAT advisor.

Clear Creek Amana High School Credit Recovery Program
June 11 – July 20, 2012

The Clear Creek Amana School District will offer credit recovery during the summer in an online format. Individualized classes will be offered in the following areas:
Math, Science, Language Arts/Reading, Social Studies, Electives/World Languages
- Step 1: The student’s home school notifies the parent/guardian of the courses needed for credit recovery/promotion.
- Step 2: Parents/guardians complete the summer school application and send it to CCA High School, attn: Sarah Coleman.
- Step 3: Students new to online learning must attend an orientation session in the Online Learning Center with their parent/guardian.
- Step 4: The student works online either at home or in the school lab. All quizzes and tests MUST be taken at the school lab.
Parent/Student Orientation
- Wednesday May 23rd, 3:00-5:30 pm and June 6 from 9:30-11:30 am and 4-6 pm for students and parents. Please call to make an appointment with Sarah Coleman.
- An orientation session is required for a parent/guardian and the student.
- At the orientation, a summer school teacher will work out individual plans for completion of the courses with each student/guardian.
- Appointments will be held in the Online Learning Center and will take approximately 25 minutes.

Driver’s Education
The June session of drivers education is full. There are still openings for the July and September sessions. Registration forms may be picked up in the main office or Mrs. Dietrich’s office. Tuition is $370 payable to CCA by cash, check or money order. You may also pay tuition on PaySchool.

ACT Dates
You may register for the ACT online at www.actstudent.org. Cost for the ACT is $34.00, and the ACT Plus Writing is $49.50. On the Actstudent.org website is a list of schools that require or recommend taking the writing portion of the ACT.I strongly encourage Seniors that have not taken the ACT, or are not satisfied with their score to take the Act by the October testing
date. It is also recommended that Juniors take an ACT test at least one time this academic year. Study materials and registration brochures are available in the guidance office. If eligible some students be able to obtain an ACT fee waiver. Check with the guidance office to see if you would qualify.

Attention graduates of 2000 – 2005:
If you would like your cumulative folder, please contact Ms. Christensen at the high school. This can be done during regular business hours. We can release these files only to the former student. Any files from 2000 – 2005 remaining after June 1, 2012 will be appropriately disposed of. We will keep a permanent card on file that will include final grades, attendance and graduation date.

Dress Code
The major responsibility for acceptable dress and grooming rests with the
parents and their students. Students are expected to dress
appropriately for school and all related activities. The administration
will take action on student dress when such dress and/or grooming
presents a clear danger to student health and safety, causes an interference
with schoolwork, or creates a classroom or school disruption.
Clothing with obscenities, profanities, or alcohol, drug or tobacco
references are not permitted. Bare feet are not permitted.
Shoes must be worn in school at all times.
