Hi, my name is Jane Astor. I graduated with a BS degree from Mount Mercy University. My major was Mathematics with an Education minor. My first teaching position was at Mid-Prairie High School. After two years at Mid-Prairie, I joined Clear Creek. During my 31 years at CCA, a lot has happened. At one point the school had 143 students. We joined with Amana the next year and our enrollment has grown ever since. We are currently at a very nice size and have record enrollment at 608 high school students.

During my time at CCA, I have sponsored the student council and the academic decathlon team. I am currently coaching cross country and track. I have taught many math courses during my time at CCA and am currently teaching Algebra and Calculus.

I am fortunate enough to have a great family. My husband Jeff has been battling leukemia the last couple of years. We plan to win the battle with cancer and pray he continues to improve his health. My daughter, Jacqueline, lives and works in the area. She and her husband blessed us with our first grandson last spring. Young children are a complete joy ! Our son, Jacob, is a baseball coach at DMACC where he continues to enjoy the game. We live in North Liberty. I look forward to another great school year and love to get to know my students better. It is great fun to meet students of parents that I also taught.  GO CLIPPERS.

Hi, my name is Thad Barker and I am starting my 18th year as a special education teacher at CCA High School. I was born in Kentucky but have lived all but six months of my life in the great state of Iowa. I grew up in the Quad-Cities and am a graduate of Bettendorf High School. I earned my BS in Physical Education from the University of Iowa in 1995 and later earned my MA in Special Education from the University of Iowa in 2000.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Clear Creek Amana and look forward to spending many more years here. My favorite part of the job is developing relationships with the students and their families. It is also gratifying to see a student struggling over a particular skill and then to see it finally "click."

I live in North Liberty (in the CCA District) with my wonderful wife, Suzy (member of the last graduating class of Clear Creek High School), and my five beautiful children, Kaylie (13 years old), Brandon (11), Haidyn (9), Kira (7) and Drew (3). We also are the owners of a 15 year-old one-eyed cat named Rounder.

My passions are sports, family and church. I absolutely love all things Hawkeye, the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and anything related to track & field. I enjoy running and love the fact that it has become a family activity for my whole crew. Above all else, I am most passionate about my relationship with Jesus Christ.

I am entering my 7th year in the position of high school engineering teacher and 10th overall in the district. This year I will be teaching three classes in the Project Lead the Way pre-engineering program; Intro to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Digital Electronics.  In addition to teaching I coach the boys high school soccer team and I oversee the robotics team. I cannot call the robotics coaching as I try to keep them as autonomous as possible.  I am graduate of Williamston High School and Hope College, both in Michigan, and I was educated enough at the University of Iowa they let me teach in this state and root for the Hawkeyes.
I am blessed with a superb wife and three young boys so whatever interests outside of work I used to have were replaced by books, blocks, trucks, trains, video games, playing outside, taking care of the house and yard and variety of other fatherly tasks.

Hello, my name is Tony Brack, and I am entering my 8th year as a CCA teacher. I am currently the Biology Teacher and Boys Track and Field Coach.I am a CCA graduate of 1995 and love teaching with the educators I had as a student.

After high school, I attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. My majors included biology and psychology. I was also a member of the Luther College Track and Field team.Luther College was an excellent experience overall!

A couple years ago I married my best friend, Kristin, and this fall will mark our second anniversary. We live south of Oxford on the old Brack homestead. Our past year has been busy remodeling the old ranch house. Kristin and I absolutely love sitting on our west deck watching the sunsets. We do not have children yet, but we do have a little silky terrier, Holly, who is pretty much our little child. I think we will add to our family in the next few years.

My name is Jackie Clubb. I am one of the special education teachers for grades 9-12, as well as the  head high school volleyball coach. I grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from high school there. After graduating from Williamsburg  I earned a para-legal/liberal arts degree at Kirkwood Community College.   My first position within CCA was as a para-educator at Clear Creek Amana Middle School and coaching middle school volleyball. I returned to school to pursue my teaching license at Coe College in Cedar Rapids and received a teaching license in Elementary Education with endorsements in reading and language arts. I finished my masters in Education from Morningside College in May 2014.

This is my fifth year teacher at Clear Creek Amana High School and I enjoy working with the students and staff everyday, as well as spending my time coaching volleyball. I am looking forward to another successful season.

When I am not teaching I am spending time with my family. I have a niece and two nephews. They keep me busy and I love watching them grow up. What time I have left I also enjoy cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Hello, and my name is Olivia Cotton.  This year I am teaching Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry and looking forward to collaborating with all the great science teachers.  I am originally from Iowa City, graduating from City High in 2009.  I then went on to Cornell College and received my bachelors degree in Mathematics with a Biology minor.  I then found my way back to Iowa City and attended the University of Iowa, completing my Masters degree in Science and Mathematics Education.  I was fortunate enough to do my student teaching at CCA last spring in Mr. Brack's biology classroom, and am so excited to return back for my first year of teaching.

When I am not teaching I enjoy doing all sorts of crafts (sewing, knitting, quilting, etc.), reading, and cooking.  I also spend a lot of time with my wonderful friends and family, and of course my fiance Josh.  I will also be coaching Science Olympiad again this year with Mrs. Marling.

Dana DeGeeter

I want to start by saying thank you to all of the staff, administration, students, and parents that have warmly welcomed my wife and me to the Clipper community!  I have really enjoyed getting to know the students and hope that at some point during the year they will look forward to having my class be a part of their day.  My personal goal to myself every day is to leave work, home, school, etc. a better place than it was when I got there…to make a positive contribution or influence in everything that I do.  I chose teaching because I enjoy helping others learn and grow and again because I enjoy helping people.  I have a BA in secondary mathematics in education & applied computer science and have my MA in Teaching and have spent 15 years in the education field.

My wife Tami and I have been very busy with our daughter Finley who is almost 1 now!  I look forward to coming home to the two of them every day.  We also have 2 pound rescue dogs and a very stubborn long-haired miniature dachshund.  When I’m not at school I am usually playing basketball, running, swimming, working out, playing any kind of sport, playing games (board, card, and video), spending time with family, friends, and pets, reading Calvin and Hobbes, or just spending time outdoors.

This school year will be my third year as an educator and my second year as a CCA Clipper.  I will be teaching Elementary Algebra I,  Algebra II and Computer Science.  I graduated from CPU High School, and then went on to Luther College where I majored in math and minored in education.  While at Luther I played basketball and will be bringing those Luther Norse skills to CCA as the JV girls basketball coach.  In my free time I enjoy the great outdoors, bicycling, disc golfing, solving ridiculously hard math problems, telling corny jokes and playing the guitar.

The schools I have attended have always had a unique mascot. First as a stormin pointer, then a Norse, now a Clipper. I’m glad to still be bleeding blue and I think Norsemen and ships go pretty well together. Go Clippers!

I was born and raised in New York to the endless delight of students who can’t get enough of my accent! I have also lived in Los Angeles and Massachusetts, but have long considered Iowa home. My husband, Jim, is the in-house counsel for a labor union, and we share our home with 3 cats and 2 dogs. My hobbies include reading, crossword puzzles, and going on walks with my dogs.

I grew up on a farm outside of Parnell and graduated from Williamsburg HS. Growing up in this area has really made me appreciate what small towns and small”er” schools have to offer. I have travelled to 16 states and seven countries. (Three of these countries have been with CCA students.) I have had many crazy part-time jobs including cutting stencils for tombstones and supervising detasslers in the cornfields. I come from a very large family including 51 first cousins and 115 second cousins. All of these things have helped me become a more well-rounded person which I hope translates into the classroom.

My husband Jeremy has his own landscaping and concrete business. We have one terrific son, Quinn who attends CCA Middle School. We enjoy many activities together such as bike riding, attending and watching football games, travelling and hanging out with family. I am also in a book club because I really do love to read. My son and I have also begun to do some volunteering together with the Salvation Army.

I received my BA from Buena Vista University and my MA in art education from the University of Iowa. (I would go to school forever is someone would pay me to do it.) My teaching experience began in 1987 right here at CCA. I spent my first three years travelling between Oxford Elementary and the High School.  As one of the “veterans” in the district I have witnessed many changes. I’ve had three different high school classrooms in two buildings. I have watched class sizes grow from 40 graduates to 160+. It has been an evolution that I am proud to be a part of. I also advise two clubs: SAFE (Students Acting For the Environment) which promotes school wide recycling and Art Club (maybe you’ve seen our Herky out front?)

I teach a variety of classes at CCA including Digital and B&W photography, Glassworks I and II, Graphic Arts, Art Forms, Advanced Art and two graphic classes for Kirkwood credit – Illustrator and Photoshop.

We have some very talented students at CCA and it is an honor to be able to facilitate their growth and creativity.

My name is Brad Muhlenbruck and  I am currently in my 27th  year of teaching at CCA and my 32th year overall.  After graduating from UNI in 1984 with majors in Earth Science and General Science, I began my teaching career at Belmont High School in Wisconsin.  I taught Earth Science, Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics at Belmont, and also spent 2 years as an assistant basketball coach and 3 years as the boys and girls track coach. After spending 4 years at Belmont I moved to Clinton Iowa for a year.  While at Clinton I taught Physics and General Science.  In 1989 I was fortunate enough to land a position as science teacher at Clear Creek High School and been here ever since.

Over the years I have had the good fortune to meet a number of tremendous people at CCA, both students and faculty.  I currently teach Physics, Chemistry and Chem II, but have also taught Physical Science, Astronomy and Applied Science during my time here.  Needless to say I have witnessed many changes over the years, most notably the growth we have seen in our district.  When I first started there were around 150 kids in the entire high school whereas today that would be the size of a typical class.

My wife Gretchen and I live in Middle Amana along with our son Reiner and our two cats Ty and Carl.  During my spare time I enjoy spending time on the golf course or going to Hawkeye football games.  We also like to spend time at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Of course our son Reiner, who attends elementary school in Amana, keeps us busy with games, fishing and any other activities that involve the outdoors.

My name is Gretchen Muhlenbruck. I have been teaching for 18 years, 15 of which have been at Clear Creek Amana High School. I started my journey at Williamsburg Junior/Senior High School in 1998 where I taught American history and at-risk. I also was the junior high volleyball coach and high school assistant track coach. However, I have always been a Clipper at heart, as I graduated from CCA in 1993 and coached Clipper volleyball and softball in the mid to late 1990s. In 1998, I became the 7th grade softball coach for several years. I have worn a few hats at CCA over the last several years. I taught special education and at-risk with a couple classes of American History and Psychology mixed in. For the last few years I have taught a class titled, Survey of Social Studies to freshmen. This class means a lot to me because I created it! It is a mix of a little geography, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and a lot of world history. It has been great fun coming up with ways to present world history in a present day, real world context.

I received my B.A. in Psychology at the University of Iowa in 1998. I simultaneously received my secondary teaching certification and along with Psychology can teach world geography, American history and world history. During college I spent some time volunteering in a special education classroom at CCA.

I have a wonderful husband, Brad, and one son, Reiner. Brad also teaches at the high school. This can make for some interesting car rides to school! We never run out of things to discuss. Reiner is a 3rd  grader at Amana Elementary.  He loves playing sports-golf, basketball, and football are his favorites. I am a kid at heart, so when I say I enjoy rollerblading and playing outside, I am not kidding. I spend my time tending my flowers and plants, exercising, lifting weights, golfing, and sitting on my huge front porch with my palm trees watching my son play with his cousins. I am a certified personal trainer and this past May also started playing the accordion.  Yes, the accordion.  It actually isn’t as hard as it looks and I find myself losing track of time when I am playing. My dream, other than becoming a world famous accordionist,  is to travel the US during the summer in a RV and see as many historical sites as possible, along with state parks and other natural features.

I enjoy my job at CCA and plan to stay until I am old and gray! Once a Clipper, always a Clipper!

Additionally, I coach high school football here at Clear Creek, and I am the Student Council Advisor to a fantastic group of kids.
